The Deshka and Little Susitna rivers sit about 90 minutes north of Anchorage, and this Wasilla based jet boat service works both of them for king and silver salmon. Dan Suprak runs the trips. He states more than 20 years of guiding in Alaska, including seasons at a lodge on the Alaska Peninsula, and holds a 25 ton Master's Coast Guard license along with a Wilderness First Responder certificate and a state big game guide registration. Half day trips are six hours dock to dock with a two angler minimum and a choice of an early morning or late morning departure; full days are eight hours with a four angler minimum. Fishing ends when the last person aboard has kept a fish, and the guide fillets the catch at the end. A 24 foot custom welded jet boat, life jackets, rods, tackle and bait are provided; the parking fee at Deshka Landing, licenses, the king salmon stamp, rain gear, food and gratuity are not. A separate lake program runs on Mat-Su Valley water for rainbow trout, arctic char, arctic grayling, lake trout and northern pike, capped at four anglers. Ice fishing is offered in winter. Lodging close to Deshka Landing can be arranged on request, and dates are reserved through an online booking system.
