Alaska Fly Anglers

This outfit sells a short list of dated, destination specific fly fishing trips rather than day charters. The summer anchor is a float through Katmai National Park for rainbow trout and Arctic char, staged out of King Salmon and offered on set weeks between early June and late August, fished with dry flies, mouse patterns and streamers. Late August into September moves north of the Arctic Circle, based out of Kotzebue, for sea run char and Arctic grayling. Mid October brings a lodge and camp based steelhead and silver salmon trip on Kodiak Island. A two day fly fishing school in early June covers single and two handed casting, Alaskan angling techniques, knots and gear selection, and includes a night of accommodation, breakfast and materials. Alongside the float trips the operation runs lodge stays and a bed and breakfast. Groups are kept small, and the guides are described as Alaska residents with decades of experience. Species across the calendar include rainbow trout, steelhead, Arctic char, Arctic grayling and all five species of Pacific salmon. Booking takes a 50 percent deposit, with the balance due when the trip starts; the deposit is refundable up to 90 days before departure.
