Harrison Fishing Guide Service

The Mobile Bay watershed is the working ground for Captain George Harrison, who fishes Mobile Bay along with the Mississippi Sound, Mobile River, Dog River, Fowl River, Bayou La Batre, Fort Morgan, and the Theodore Industrial Canal. He became an inshore guide and charter captain in 2010; before that he fished local tournaments for large speckled trout, teaming up around 2005 with his grandfather O.P. Harrison, known in the Mobile and Dauphin Island area for catching big trout in local events and himself a licensed guide. Speckled trout, redfish, and flounder are the named targets. The site is specific about where fish sit and when. Gillard Island, just off the ship channel, puts shallow water beside deep channels, and the rock around it holds bait and gives trout structure to ambush from. The lower part of the bay carries deep water structure holding fish from May through October. The Gulf beach comes into play as water temperatures rise, the Dauphin Island bridge offers structure of its own, and the Mississippi Sound holds fish later in the year on reefs, shrimp boat wrecks, and other sunken debris. Reading tides, temperature, water clarity, and weather across those areas is described as the skill the trip is paying for. Harrison is USCG licensed, which is required to carry passengers for hire, and fishes seven days a week. A cast and blast package pairs a half day of fishing with an afternoon pheasant hunt at a partner shooting preserve.
